What is the Jr. Warriors?

The Jr. Warriors was founded to help grow the game of rugby in the state of Utah and beyond. Its aim is to help all kids learn the amazing culture and fun that can be experienced through the game of rugby. The Jr. Warriors has three main areas of impact:

  1. Camps & Clinics: Hosting pre-game clinics and other camps with outside organizations, including school districts, youth organizations, and many more, the Jr. Warriors Camps and Clinics program aims to introduce kids and adults to the sport of rugby
  2. Jr. Warriors League: By partnering with Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation the Jr. Warriors league's goal is to get thousands of boys and girls learning and playing the sport of rugby in a fun, inclusive, and safe environment
  3. Coaching Development: The Utah Warriors are committed to helping grow the game of rugby by similarly developing more coaches in the state of Utah through online and in-person courses.

The goal for all Jr. Warriors programs is to create a positive experience and connection between the community and the sport of rugby.

What is the relationship between Jr. Warriors and Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation?

The Jr. Warriors and Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation are teaming up to create a program for all kids to get involved in the sport of rugby. The Jr. Warriors League, supported in partnership with the SL County, will be structured so that an introduction to rugby is fun and inclusive for everyone.

How much do Jr. Warriors programs cost?

  • Jr. Warriors Pre-Game Clinics cost $36 per child
  • Jr. Warriors League costs $50 per child
  • Other Jr. Warriors Camps and Clinics with third-party organizations vary based on the number of children and adults participating. Please contact us for more information.

When are the Jr. Warriors programs?

Jr. Warriors Pre-Game Clinics:

  • Clinics are held two hours before the Utah Warriors' home game at Zions Bank Real Academy
  • Please visit the "Clinics" page for details and registration information

Jr. Warriors League:

  • Registration Opens: February 1st, 2023
  • Registration Closes: TBD
  • League Season: April - May *exact dates TBD

Where are the Jr. Warriors programs?

All Jr. Warriors Pre-Game Clinics are hosted at Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman, UT. The Jr. Warriors League games will be hosted at varying local city-based fields throughout the Wasatch Front. Details will be announced shortly on the fields' locations. 

Can I coach Jr. Warriors if I've never played or coached rugby?

Yes! Coaches for the Jr. Warriors League teams can and will be offered online training support from the Utah Warriors and SL County Parks and Recreation. No prior rugby or coaching experience is required. Registration to coach is free. 

Jr. Warriors League Details:

  • 10+ Players Per Team
  • Coed 7v7 Touch Rugby
  • Includes a rugby ball, a reversible jersey, and one (1) ticket to a Utah Warriors Home Match
  • Teams will be based on local parks and rec geography 
  • Practices and games will be held together on Tuesdays and Thursdays 
  • Registration: February 1 - TBD
